Brokerage Leadership Changes Reshape Real Estate Firms

Leadership appointments and brokerage expansions across the real estate sector highlight a continuing shift in organisational structure as firms reposition for growth in competitive regional markets.

Several companies announced senior hires and team transitions during the past week, reflecting ongoing consolidation and recruitment activity across the brokerage industry. Franchise network Century 21 confirmed that Rochester-based Sharon Quataert Realty has joined the brand and will operate as Century 21 APEX. Founder Sharon Quataert, along with Brittany Quataert and Brad Quataert, brings more than four decades of combined experience in real estate, insurance and accounting, expanding the company’s presence across Monroe County in New York.

Fathom Realty also broadened its footprint in the US northeast after EXIT Homestead Realty Professionals integrated into the brokerage. Broker-owner Stephanie Verderose, who recently joined Fathom as vice-president of growth, will bring her team of roughly 50 agents under the Fathom brand through Homestead Realty Professionals. The move strengthens Fathom’s presence in South Jersey and reflects the company’s strategy of expanding through team-based recruitment.

In the luxury residential segment, Compass confirmed that The Hopper Group has added agent Kyle Weber to its team. Weber has built a reputation within Seattle’s high-end condominium market and recorded approximately $120m in sales volume in 2025, according to company information. His addition reflects continued competition among brokerages to recruit agents with strong regional expertise and established client networks.

Elsewhere, Sotheby’s International Realty Canada appointed Mustafa Abbasi as president of its Canadian operations. Abbasi brings more than 25 years of experience across real estate and financial services, including roles at American Express and property marketplace Zolo, which was acquired by Questrade Financial Group in 2022. Industry leaders noted that his background in digital marketplaces and brokerage strategy will support the firm’s evolving client expectations.

Operational leadership also shifted within industry infrastructure organisations. Stellar MLS promoted Shayne Fairley to chief executive officer after two decades with the company in roles spanning training, compliance, operations and data services. The Real Brokerage also announced the appointment of San Diego agent Jason Cassity as its first chief growth officer as part of efforts to accelerate brokerage expansion and agent recruitment.
